CK GUARD WR-SERIES
C6 Fluorocarbon Water & Oil Repellent
A C6 repellent free of PFOA and PFOS, for fabrics that meet water, oil and soil and still have to look right after the twentieth wash.
What it is
Three kinds of repellency from one finish
CK GUARD WR-SERIES is a C6 fluorocarbon repellent. The short fluorinated chain brings surface energy low enough that water, oil and greasy soil all bead rather than spread — something a fluorine-free finish cannot match.
It is free of PFOA and PFOS, the substances associated with the older long-chain C8 chemistry. Our range is short-chain C6 and fluorine-free only. A C6 finish is still fluorinated chemistry; CK GUARD N-SERIES is our fluorine-free range.
- Repels water, oil and greasy soil
- Free of PFOA and PFOS
- Holds performance through repeated laundering
- For polyester, nylon and cotton, and their blends
- Water-based grades in four ionicities, and solvent-based grades
- Runs on conventional pad–dry–cure lines

Why oil repellency matters
The specifications that need fluorochemistry
Buyers rarely ask for “oil repellency” by name. It arrives as a test method, a barrier requirement or a stain-resistance clause — and all of them need fluorochemistry.
Barrier fabrics
Fluid resistance in medical and protective textiles depends on repelling blood, body fluids and alcohol-based disinfectants — liquids with a lower surface tension than water. A fluorine-free finish cannot carry that claim.
Workwear and industrial wear
Garments that meet machine oil, fuel or cutting fluid need a finish that keeps those from wicking into the yarn.
Stain and soil resistance
Greasy soil is the kind that stays once it wicks in. Oil repellency keeps it on the surface, so a spill can be blotted off before it sets.

Applications
Built for the demanding end of the range
These are the places where a specification asks for oil and soil repellency as well as water — the work that needs a fluorochemical finish.

Fluid barrier
Medical and protective textiles
Gowns and barrier fabrics whose fluid resistance depends on repelling blood, body fluids and alcohol-based disinfectants, not water alone — a CK GUARD WR-SERIES application only.

Oil and fuel
Workwear and industrial garments
Uniforms and coveralls that meet machine oil, fuel and cutting fluid, and have to keep repelling them after industrial laundering.

Chemical splash
Firefighting and protective gear
Outer shells that must shed water, fuel and chemical splash.

Greasy soiling
Leather and synthetic leather
Automotive and furniture surfaces facing water and greasy soiling.

Stain resistance
Upholstery and contract textiles
High-traffic seating and panel fabrics where stain and soil resistance is part of the specification.

Rain and washing
Outdoor and technical apparel
Shell fabrics that have to keep beading after packing, abrasion and repeated washing.
Also specified for footwear, bags and luggage, and for concrete, stone and exterior walls treated on the finished surface.

The same grade, order after order
Every production batch of CK GUARD WR-SERIES is inspected against its specification before release. Consistency between batches is what keeps a finishing recipe stable once you have dialled it in.
Also from CHEM KARIS
CK GUARD N-SERIES
Our fluorine-free range. It repels water only and contains no fluorochemistry.
